Deborah’s affection for horses began at an early age. This interest was sparked by television, story books and films until the age of 49 years when she took her first horse-back riding lesson. That’s when the REAL love affair began.
Deborah’s longing to have a relationship with one of these magnificent beings led her to purchase her first horse in 2007. Bella has brought more healing and joy into Deborah’s life than she ever thought possible. Deborah wanted to share this healing and joy with others and so she made it her intention to bring horses into her life for her healing and the healing of others.
Deborah became certified in Level I & II with the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association but felt that for her there was something missing. She found it in a book by Linda Kohanov, “The Tao of Equus”. Through a series of serendipitous circumstances Deborah found the Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning program at “Horse Spirit Connections” with Wendy Golding and Andre Leclipteus. She completed the FEEL Facilitator program in April 2010 and then the ADVANCED FEEL program in 2015.
Deborah has always welcomed innovative approaches to human growth and development. She has been a teacher/counselor with the Toronto District School Board for 25 years working primarily with adolescents at “risk”. Still striving for more effective modes of communication with the students Deborah acquired her Art Therapy Diploma with the Toronto Art Therapy Institute in 2004. Deborah also incorporates the Shamballa Multidimensional Healing System, a lineage of energy work into her healing practice.
In the fall of 2010 Deborah and her family, human, canine and equine, became keepers of the sacred land christened “Spirit Horse Run”, a 10.3 acre property close to the quaint town of Erin, Ontario. Deborah is very excited with the opportunity to blend all of her skills, talents and life experiences to assist others in reaching their life potential and purpose.
